Just 9.95

Anna and I decided to go to my local photographer-in-a-box to have the kids' pictures made while we were together.  I had been given a gift certificate and thought this would be a great time to use it.  After the grueling shoot (trying to get a 5 yr old, 18 month old and 4.5 month old to all sit still, sit together as directed, AND smile in a strange place during nap time- let your imagination run wild) we were immediately asked "what photo would you like to use for your 9.95 choice?"  Seemed innocent enough.  We chose the one of them all together, that way we could split them up between us and my parents.  I did start to get suspicious when she asked us what complimentary greeting card we wanted, but with 3 tired kids, we just picked one.  We got home, opened our package and stared open mouthed at no less than 100 pictures of Riley, Megan and J.  The above photo shows just the ones that are mine. Anna took the other half.

Who would ever need this many copies and various sizes of anything?  The thing that miffed us was the sales pitch, "which photo would you like to use for your 9.95 choice?", not, "you'll already have a 30 copies of this picture, would you like to pay 10 more dollars to add 85 more?"

Cynicism aside, it is a cute photo, and their individual ones are even better. Mission accomplished.

So, if you'd like an 8x10 of J with his cousins, just let me know.  Don't speak too soon though, you may already be getting a greeting card.
